Get Active With Oatmeal

July 31st, 2008 by saveyspender

I love oatmeal, mostly because it’s easy to make and has many different flavors. A few months ago after watching the biggest loser I decided to try new oatmeal from Quaker that was suppose to help control weight. Pretty much it had more fiber in it. Always a good thing, but I really didn’t like the flavors.

Last week I finally got to a store besides Walmart, I ended up at Kroger and was introduced to their Active Lifestyle Oatmeal this is a store brand so it’s not as expensive as the Quaker, but still is a very good oatmeal. They have many different flavors, but the ones I picked up were an almond cranberry, maple and walnut and an apple raisin and pecan mix. Now those I can deal with, I love fruit in fact the only problem I have so far with the active oatmeal is that they didn’t have a blueberry mix. I love blueberry’s in oat meal.

Okay on to what it taste like, well honestly it’s not bad, but don’t be expecting yummy good stuff, It’s a healthier food and even though it taste good it’s not going to taste like regular oat meal. That said if you have tried the Quaker brand and liked it, then you will be fine with this brand. As I said before I liked the different flavors and fruit in this oatmeal. The addition of nuts is very nice as it gives you a crunch and that extra health kick.

If your on a low carb diet this would work well for you, it has a ton of fiber the two I have eaten so far have had between 5-7grams and each pack is just under 30 carbs. Overall I have to say this oatmeal is a great way to fill up and fuel up in the morning.

Product Review, Dark Chocolate Chex Mix

July 26th, 2008 by saveyspender

I love chex mix and I love dark chocolate so I figured this had to be a good combination. I was not disappointed. This mix had an assorted variety of dark chocolate covered chex, pretzels and candy. It also had chocolate cookies and white chocolate covered chex. I’m guessing just for a twist. The best part about it is that it does not have many carbs per serving. 30 carbs per cup which is what my meal plan says I can have for a snack. I believe it even has a points value of 2 per serving 2/3 of a cup for weight watches. Check this though as my little brother ate the rest of it and threw away the package!

I was very happy with how this tasted and it is a great treat for anyone looking for something sweet and a little healthier then some other types of snack food.

Looking To Lose Weight

July 12th, 2008 by saveyspender

If your like most Americans you are looking to lose weight and keep it off. The problem with this is not every diet is equal and not every diet works for everyone. That is one reason I love eDiets.com. They don’t just offer you one diet and tell you that you must use this diet in order to lose weight. They actually help you to accomplish your weight loss goal by figuring out what type of diet might be good for you.

So how do you find out which diet is right for you? Well they ask you some simple questions about your lifestyle and go from there. I started out by putting in how much weight I wanted to lose, then they asked me why I wanted to lose it and how long I wanted it to take. They actually had some realistic goals in there. I’m sure the 1-2 weeks was not an option for my more then 35lbs I choose to lose. They also asked me what I liked to eat and how many people I cook for. There were more questions, but these stood out to me.

Once you do that you can then move on to find your perfect diet. It’s really a win win situation for people. If your like me, you don’t want to go out and go to a gym where people look at you and wonder why the fat girl is trying to work out. This program allows you to do things at home, but still have a community of support.
