Get Active With Oatmeal
I love oatmeal, mostly because it’s easy to make and has many different flavors. A few months ago after watching the biggest loser I decided to try new oatmeal from Quaker that was suppose to help control weight. Pretty much it had more fiber in it. Always a good thing, but I really didn’t like the flavors.
Last week I finally got to a store besides Walmart, I ended up at Kroger and was introduced to their Active Lifestyle Oatmeal this is a store brand so it’s not as expensive as the Quaker, but still is a very good oatmeal. They have many different flavors, but the ones I picked up were an almond cranberry, maple and walnut and an apple raisin and pecan mix. Now those I can deal with, I love fruit in fact the only problem I have so far with the active oatmeal is that they didn’t have a blueberry mix. I love blueberry’s in oat meal.
Okay on to what it taste like, well honestly it’s not bad, but don’t be expecting yummy good stuff, It’s a healthier food and even though it taste good it’s not going to taste like regular oat meal. That said if you have tried the Quaker brand and liked it, then you will be fine with this brand. As I said before I liked the different flavors and fruit in this oatmeal. The addition of nuts is very nice as it gives you a crunch and that extra health kick.
If your on a low carb diet this would work well for you, it has a ton of fiber the two I have eaten so far have had between 5-7grams and each pack is just under 30 carbs. Overall I have to say this oatmeal is a great way to fill up and fuel up in the morning.

This is the best oatmeal on the market for half the price you need to try it just to see for yourself. You wont be let down, if so you can get a full refund from Kroger. Please try. I’m sold.

I have been eating lots of oatmeal in the past few years, mostly Quaker or the Kroger brand version of that, and enjoy it usually.
I have only tried the Almond Cranberry of Kroger’s “Active Lifestyle” brand, and find it absolutely horrendous! I’m slowly finishing it right now and trying to identify the flavor I find so repulsive (so I can avoid it in the future). We’ll see what happens with the next variety.
Update: Comparing the boxes, the 2nd and 3rd ingredients are whey protein isolate and chicory root extract. From a web search it looks like chicory root is the culprit for me.
It is widely reported to have a flavor similar to coffee, which I also can’t stand. So if you like coffee – try these. If you don’t – run!
The cranberry one is actually one of my favorites, though I do love my coffee so that could be why. The others are just as good. I hope you will try them and find one you actually like!
I really like the almond cranberry, the maple brown sugar and apple and cinn oatmeals generally i find to be to sweet.
I wonder if its the flat taste of almonds or the cranberry flavor the poster doesn’t like. Chicory Root in this instance shouldn’t have the coffee taste – though I’m a coffee drinker. Chicory Root is a natural fiber supplement so they add it to increase the fiber content in this oatmeal.
I just wish they didn’t use aspertame.

I love oatmeal also!
