Countess Of Scandal Book Review and Giveaway

I received this book from Forever Romance because of my membership at Book Blogs. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I love reading books based on history, it doesn’t matter if it’s a romance book, action novel or even a non-fiction book. I just love history and finding out if what the book says happened really did. Its fun to learn in a way that entertaining and I’ve found that if I read something, then do more research on it I find so much more out. Countess of Scandal was a book that got me thinking. It’s set during the Revolution in Ireland in 1798. It contains characters that actually existed and of course some that did not. The story follows Eliza Blacknall and William Denton who as children were friends who became more only to be turn apart by the military. William went to war and Eliza married the man her parents choose for her.

The story really starts a few years later when Eliza, now a widow, and William meet again and they start to remember how they felt about each other. The problem is Eliza is very involved in the revolution and William is still an English redcoat. The story tells a journey of love and survival during a time that is so uncertain. It’s a fun and thought provoking book even though it really is just meant to entertain.

I would be a rebel.

I guess it depends on what the rebels stood for. But, I must say, I’m a rebel at heart. ;)

It depends on the point of view of the people in power or the rebels. As a matter of course, I usually side with the rebels. Thanks!

It would depend on whose side I was on originally – I’d stick with them

i’d be a rebel

Im a rebel!

I would side with the rebels. They usually have good reasons why they are rebelling. Thanks!

Wow, this is a question I’ve thought about a lot. I think it’s because of “Star Wars” actually. If I lived under a really oppressive government and the revolution was widespread, I might join the rebels. It’s a really scary thing to do, though, and to think that throughout history, strong people like those who created the United States of America, have taken a chance and taken up arms against the rightful government to effect change.

I am following you on networkedblogs. I just noticed that it’s saying that I’m posting on February 15, but it’s February 14 at 10:47pm CT where I am, so I hope my entries are counting. I’d love to read this book.

I’d side with the rebels! :)
