A Season of Seduction Book Review and Giveaway

About A Season of Seduction

Although the widowed Lady Rebecca has sworn off marriage, men are another matter. London’s cold winter nights have her dreaming of warmer pursuits-like finding a lover to satisfy her hungry heart. Someone handsome, discreet, and most importantly as uninterested in marriage as she is. Someone like Jack Fulton.

A known adventurer and playboy, Jack seems like the perfect choice. There’s just one problem: Jack isn’t interested in an affair. He needs the beautiful, mysterious Lady Rebecca to be his wife. And he doesn’t have much time to persuade her. A secret from Jack’s past is about to surface, and by Christmas Day he’ll be either married to Rebecca or dead.

About the Author

I’ve been writing since I could pick up a pencil….

Wait, no…that’s what every other writer says! I started writing just before my eighth birthday, and it wasn’t on my own volition. I was sailing with my family in a 42-foot sailboat across the Pacific, and since there were no local schools (except those pertaining to fish) nearby, my mother homeschooled me. She was a strict taskmaster! A veritable slave driver! She demanded a new story every day.

So I’d sit in the boat’s galley and write. And stare out the porthole, and write some more. And doodle, and write some more. By the time we arrived in Hawaii the following year, I had a portfolio of stories, and I was hooked. Since then I haven’t stopped. (Well, much. I did take breaks now and then, for things like college, young kids, and a master’s degree.)… Read More

My Review

This is the third book in a great series about a family that really just seems to have both good and bad luck in marriage. The book follows Rebbecca a wonderful fun yet unlucky in love women that we met in the previous books. She has hidden herself away from the world and just now is ready to give men, but not love another shot. It all unravels from there and you follow her story of wanting to love, but still unable to trust.

It’s a really wonderful book that teaches us all that sometimes you do really have to let your guard down in order to be happy. We all have our walls and sometimes being able to find that one person we can trust can mean everything, no matter what the past may say.

Fun Facts (from the author)

I spent hours and hours researching the traveling time from London to Launceston, Cornwall while writing A Season of Seduction. I am always stymied by the amount of time it took to go from point A to point B using the various means of travel during this era. I’m trying to talk my husband into buying a horse for me just so I can be as accurate as possible! Unfortunately, so far, my husband is not convinced, but I’m still working on him…

In my last book, A Touch of Scandal, Lady Rebecca broke her arm in a carriage accident. Unfortunately, I know some things about broken arms, because my son has had two of them in two years! Lady Rebecca had the same break as my son’s first injury (a broken humerus just above the elbow), but she didn’t have access to modern medical care, so even after four years she’s still suffering from the repercussions in A Season of Seduction.

Christmas is my favorite day of the year, and I’d never imagined I’d be lucky enough to have the opportunity to write a historical romance set during the holiday season. Combine that with the special romance between Becky and Jack, and A Season of Seduction is definitely one of my favorites!

Even more, she’s a beautiful woman whose innocent sensuality tempts Mick to show her exactly how thrilling pleasure can be. The heat that builds between them is irresistible, but surrendering to it could kill them both . . . for a dangerous group is plotting its next move using Caterina as its deadly pawn.

A hunger that can’t be sated…Nikodemus is a warlord with a mission: Kill Magellan and his green-eyed witch at any cost. But when he meets the desperate Carson, the pull of her magic takes his breathe away. He’s not sure he can trust this tantalizing woman–she is his enemy–and less sure he can keep his hands off her. But Magellan will stop at nothing to reclaim what belongs to him. Can Nikodemus stop him before his desire for Carson destroys them both?

Tropical Traditions Coconut Chips Review and Giveaway

Posted by Holly | Posted in Savey's Giveaways | Posted on 28-09-2010

44

Coconut types:

(taken from the tropical traditions website)

Tropical Traditions 100% natural Shredded Coconut, Coconut Flakes, and Coconut Chips are made from organic dried coconuts in the Philippines that are grown with no fertilizers or pesticides. This premium dried coconut contains no additives or preservatives, and is not sweetened. Unlike most dried coconut on the market, our dried coconut products are not treated with sulfites to keep them white. They are a great addition to recipes and baking, or just for snacks! Note: The Shredded Coconut is a very small cut, suitable for baking, such as making macaroons. The Coconut Flakes are a larger shredded coconut cut, perfect for garnishing or toppings, such as the top of a coconut cream pie. The Coconut Chips are a much larger cut that can be used as a snack food. You can mix them with nuts and dried fruit, for example.

My Review:

I love all natural coconut. I didn’t think I would just because it’s not a sweetend coconut, but I find that I do love to use the tropical traditions coconut more then what I can buy in a store. It has a better taste then other coconut and really for what you get the price is unbeatable.

The coconut chips I found worked best in mixes like trail mix. They really didn’t hold up well in other dishes as they almost overpowered them. Though I did use some as a cake and pie garnish that went over very well. I also found that adding them to the outside of my coconut peanut butter balls made a statement that this was coconut and not something else. It was different and a lot of fun to use.

I would reccomend this type of coconut for anyone who likes to make trail mixes as that is really where it works the best. Here is my recipe for trail mix

Coconut Trial Mix

2 cups almonds

1 cup coconut chips

1/2 cup dark chocolate chips

1/2 cup peanut butter chips

1 cup  peanuts

1/2 cup dried cranberries.

Mix well and enjoy

Giveaway

If you would like to win a gallon of  coconut chips all you have to do is check out the tropical traditions recipe page and tell me what you would make with this type of coconut or what you would put in your trail mix.

The winners of the Sin Undone Giveaway and their comments are:

Comment: Stephanie McCarthy says I love a combination of the two. Both are great individually but I love them together like in Keri Arthur’s Riley Jensen series.

Comment: Angie B says hmm i’m going to go with a combo. the strength and ferociousness of a werewolf but the power over people of a vampire.

Comment: Tanya1224 says I pick vampires, there just sexy to me. I have to admit though that a mix of the two would be really cool to read about though. I just read The maker’s song series by Adrian Phoenix with a vampire/angel and it was great. I’d love to win a copy of this book. I’m a google friend follower and twittered about contest here www.twitter.com/Tanya1224 Thanks =)

Oogy Review and Giveaway

Posted by Holly | Posted in 100 Days Of Christmas, Savey's Giveaways | Posted on 23-09-2010

About Oogy

In the bestselling tradition of Rescuing Sprite comes the story of a puppy brought back from the brink of death, and the family he adopted.

In 2002, Larry Levin and his twin sons, Dan and Noah, took their terminally ill cat to the Ardmore Animal Hospital outside Philadelphia to have the beloved pet put to sleep. What would begin as a terrible day suddenly got brighter as the ugliest dog they had ever seen–one who was missing an ear and had half his face covered in scar tissue–ran up to them and captured their hearts. The dog had been used as bait for fighting dogs when he was just a few months old. He had been thrown in a cage and left to die until the police rescued him and the staff at Ardmore Animal Hospital saved his life. The Levins, whose sons are themselves adopted, were unable to resist Oogy’s charms, and decided to take him home.

Heartwarming and redemptive, OOGY is the story of the people who were determined to rescue this dog against all odds, and of the family who took him home, named him “Oogy” (an affectionate derivative of ugly), and made him one of their own.

My Review.

This is an amazing story of hope and love for a very cute dog. Just looking at the cover made me think this is going to be a book that makes me cry. I was right, but it’s all in a good way as you just fall in love with this story. I love how the book doesn’t just start out with how they found Oogy, but goes back and tells how the family itself came together. You really do feel what the family feels for the dog because of this and it makes for a great read.
