About Me:

My name is Holly, for those of you who do not know. I am 27 single with no kids, but I do have a cat that could qualify. I am a recent graduate. I received my bachelors degree in interior design this past march. I love design and am currently looking for work. I live in the sometimes wonderful, sometimes frustrating state of Michigan and enjoy reading, writing and cooking. I have a total of 4 blogs and really enjoy meeting new people and discussing new things.

1.) Why do you blog?

I started blogging as a way to help me get though school. I had done a myspace type blog for a few years and really it was a very sad blog and I wanted to be better. I started with a personal blog and expanded from there. Savey Spender was my third blog and is so far the most successful. Though I am out of school I do continue to blog because I love it. I love giving things away and making people happy. I also love sharing my opinion with the world.

2.) What do you blog about?

On this blog I talk about products, saving money, shopping really everything related to our wants. I also do giveaways and book reviews. Really if it’s a product I think my readers would like to hear about. I talk about it.

3.) What do you find to be the biggest reward you get from blogging?

Knowing that I gave someone a chance to learn something new. Either about a product, a service or about a great deal online or off.

4.) How long have you been blogging?

Wow, well if you don’t count that myspace blog, and I don’t. about four years.

5.) Let’s hear the story behind your blog title! :)

I have a strange title I know. Many people have written to me informing me that I spelled Savvy wrong. I didn’t I meant to spell it as Savey. It’s a made up word and I love it. On one of my themes I did write out what Savey means. I may do that again and responding to the same question over and over is getting dull.

So, what does Savey mean? Well a Savey person is someone who likes to save money, find a good deal or get something for free. It’s that simple.

Get Music and More for Your Cell Phone

I love my cell, I really have no idea what I would do without it. I always have it on me and I love to check everything from weather, sport and email on it. Another great use for my cell is as an mp3 player I can listen to songs by anyone I want, like Jason derulo or Rascal Flatts. I love music and always have it close by.

The best part about having a cell phone is having the ability to assign ring tones to my friends so I know who is calling before I even pick it up. I love this because sometimes I’m busy and don’t have time to chat, but if I know it’s my mom or my grandmother calling I can stop what I’m doing and pick up my phone. Right now I don’t have many assigned ring tones as I’ve just been lazy, but I think I may need to do this for two people, the guy I’m seeing and my friend who calls me all of the time just to talk. Who would you assign a ring tone too?

Does A Classroom Close to You Deserve a Field Trip?

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Lunchables. All opinions are 100% mine.

Did you know that The American Association of School Administrators estimates that there will be a 56% increase in school field trips over just this school year? I believe it, just the difference between field trips taken when I was in school and what my younger brother, who is 10 years younger, takes is amazing. I can count the number of field trips I took between grades 7-12 on one hand, two. We didn’t even get a senior class trip! My brother on the other hand as gone on at least 15 and he is going to be a senior next year.

Field trips I think are very important to learning and now you can help a classroom close to you receive funds for a field trip of their own. Do you know a school that still has problems affording trips? Enter them in the Lunchables Field Trips For All contest. This contest will give funds to 50 classrooms so that they can go on at least one field trip.

This program is one of the first ideas brought to life from the Lunchables Team’s new initiative called Project Potential. The goal of this project is to give children the educational experiences that they need to achieve their full potential. Experiences they may not get without this program. I believe it’s a wonderful idea and am looking at some classrooms in my area to nominate.

My Earth Day Celebration

I was going to do a nice long post on earth day deals. Unfortunately I have not been able to access this blog since about 10 am and couldn’t get it up. Since the day is almost over I have decided instead to link to some great Earth friendly blog post I have done. I also have included post from a few other blogs I read, check them out and let me know what you have done to celebrate earth day. I was going to plant a tree, but I don’t have money to buy one. I’m doing it next week.

Spend More or Save More This Year?

I was thinking last night about the economy and how it has effected everyone. I am curious, this year do you plan on saveing more or spending more. I personally will be spending more as long as I have the money to do so. Now I’m not just talking shopping for clothing, but just in bills and other debts. I also do plan on buying a new computer, a good printer fax thing and lots and lots of clothing as I’m also trying to lose weight, you can follow that progress on my loss my gain.

So what do you think you will do this year when it comes to spending or saveing? What do you hope to be able to do?

Listen, Play and Enjoy Your iPod

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Yamaha. All opinions are 100% mine.

I don’t have my own iPod, but I have used a family members before and I loved it. Yes, an iPod is on my want list but were not talking about me here, what we are talking about is the iPod and how you can enhance your experience with a Yamaha PDX-60. This is a very cool device that allows you to listen to your iPod or iPhone wirelessly, that means you can run around the room and change the song without having to run back to the speaker system and your iPod.

If you watch movies on your iPod or iPhone you can use this system for better sound quality, the playback is synchronized between sound and video meaning you don’t have a delay. I hate watching movies where their mouths move but no one is talking. It’s just annoying

Now, next week does bring in the new year and if your having a party you may want to look into this. With this speaker system you don’t have to have someone change the song, or take time out of your conversation to go change it. I think it’s great and very useful. The system comes with the dock and a remote. Also if your using the iPhone with this speaker system you can still have music and talk on the phone at the same time. The transmitter is that small and portable.

Looking For A Job? Stay Groomed

Yes in order to land a job right now you need to stand out from the crowed and be presentable. If you look at what HR people find more important you will find that 90% of them will say that a well groomed person makes a better first impression then a firm handshake. Now it’s pretty simple for us females to stay groomed, but men you have a little work that you have to do and that is where Gillette Career Advantage can help you. This site has great information concerning interviews and your job. Some of the tips center around what to do before the interview, how to get ready the morning of the interview and even some tips on cold calling. I actually suggest women check this site out too as there are many great tips that we can use.

The Gillette Resource Center is another must for men to check out as it has shaving tips and facts along with information on the Gillette brand. There is also a section with sports and other entertainment. The section about Nascar is a must read, well at least for people like me who love the sport. So what do you think, if you were hiring someone for a job would you want someone well groomed or would you not care?

High End Items And You

Today I was talking with a friend of mine who has just gotten engaged, now I love this friend, but just after telling me she was engaged she started complaining about her ring. She’s a drama queen and I say that in the nicest way. She has always wanted the most expensive, most dazzling and most high end items. Her ring was a hand me down from his grandmother and she hates it.

Now unless you have one of the many good jobs in finance or you happened to hit the lottery chances are that you too will have sub par items. Of course they are only sub par if you think they are. Me, I would love a hand me down ring or any piece of jewelry for that matter. They mean something and are important to the people giving it to you.

Today I want you to think about what you have that someone you know could use and give it to them, remember what you give is what you will receive.

Start Your New Year Off The Right Way

Sometimes saving money is not a good thing. Those times are when you are donateing to a charity. This year more people will need money, food and clothing. If you have any to spare you should look into helping. One great way to help is to check out heroes at home It’s a program from sears that helps families of solders who need things that they just can’t afford or get right now. You can check out what they need by family and donate that item or money for it. You can also just donate money. It’s a really great cause as these people are off fighting for our country, and even if you don’t agree with the war, you can still help our troops by helping them give their family a good christmas. If you want to know more just check out this video it explains a lot.

I know so many of you reading this shop at sears, think about how much you spend and how much you could give these people instead. If you don’t shop at sears maybe you should check them out. They are really a good company for doing this, it’s a great idea and it shows that we do support what they are doing and we do think the world of them, even if we don’t always show it.

Earn Points For Free Stuff

I have been a member of my points for about 2 years now. I love this site for one reason. I get points for shopping, then I can cash in those points for gift cards to do more shopping on the site with and earn more points. Okay I don’t do this all the time as I have cashed in for restaurant cards as well. Right now would be a great time to join and Earn Rewards at MyPoints for one simple reason, Christmas is coming and what is one of the best gifts to give? Gift cards! So here is my Savey Spender tip, sign up. Start shopping, reading email, (you get 5 points per email read), taking surveys, (you get points for those too) and have your Christmas gifts ready by the end of October or November.

I plan on really using this service this year to do both Christmas shopping to earn points and redeeming them for gift cards. I have friends that live a distance and I think it would be nice to send them a gift card this year instead of just a card and an I wish I could have gotten you something. So what are you waiting for? Join MyPoints NOW! It’s Free!
