Mrs O Book Review and Giveaway
Comments are Closed
Once again I have a great book for you to check out. It’s called Mrs. O and if you love fashion, you will love this book. It is written by Mary Tomer who started the blog Mrs-O.org when Mrs. Obama and now president Barrack Obama first hit the national scene. She was inspired by her own fascination with Mrs. Obama’s style and decided she could not be the only one.
I myself always commented on how great Michelle Obama looks, and I’m not a huge fan of fashion, though I do follow it for work reasons. It seems that she is always very well put together and as this book shows she is a leader in fashion. I love the stories behind every dress, suit and design. I love how the fashion designers are showcased in this book and most of all I love the pictures. Most people are visual and seeing the pictures that go along with the past helps us to remember what an event the election and the first months of the Obama’s being in the white house means. It also helps us remember how classy they are and how style is set by the people we look up to and admire.
Mrs O talks a lot about who Mrs. Obama gets her clothing from, their not always big name designers, in fact they are usually smaller lesser known designers that are still working their way to the top. Of course many have now reached that height since they can say they have designed for the first lady, but I’m sure her use of younger designers will still leave room for many more to make their mark.

Fierce Style Book Review and Giveaway
Comments are closed
I love reviewing books that tell a story and help you improve yourself. Fierce Style is one of those books. Not only does it tell the story of Christian Siriano from Project Runway, but it also has some great tips on how to improve your fashion style and yourself. One of the tips I really love and will be using is “Don’t put yourself in one fashion box” Really this just means that whatever you think your style type is, make sure to change it around a bit, well that’s what I think it means anyway. I would say I have more of a classic style, but I try to mix it up with some funky jewelry or shirt every once in a while.
A Little About Fierce Style:
Now in his first book, he helps readers discover how to look, feel, and act fierce in everyday life. With tips from some of fashion and Hollywood’s biggest names -including Victoria Beckham, Heidi Klum, Nina Garcia, and Vanessa Williams — along with gorgeous original sketches by Christian, never-before-heard stories, and behind-the-scenes photos, he tells his journey of developing his own fashion sense and overcoming obstacles to success.
Giving advice on creating personal style, sharing tips on building self-confidence, and revealing his own list of fashion dos and don’ts, Christian shows how to use one’s unique strengths to get ahead – and go from tickity-tack to totally flawless.
What I found surprising about this book is how hard Christian had to work to get to where he is at. I have always thought that many of the big fashion designers got there because they had great talent and that it came easy to them. Really it is a long hard road to get to the top of anything. You just have to want it very badly and work very hard to get there.
Another great thing about this book is all of the wonderful cheat tips that are given. Christian does realize that not everyone can afford designer fashion, so he gives some great tips on how to find good clothing at reasonable prices. Now some of the tips still see expensive to me, (because most of the time I’m broke) but to many of you they will be in your budget.
Toward the end of the book there is a great part about finding your muse. I think everyone should have a muse whether it be a person, pet or object. Something must inspire you to be Fierce right?
